Is one version better than the other?

Both are good...each conveys its own feel.

I probably would have used the bottom crop of the bottom photo but left everything above. But I like both of them as is, too. I love playing around with different cropping.

They definitely tell different stories don't they? Just like a reporter writing a story, sometimes there is more in what you leave out than what you share.

Great post!

I agree, they're both equally good... Maybe the first one gives you a little more insight, but still... both are great!

Thanks for dropping by!

The first one tells more of the story. The second one is just a sign.

The top one seems to be of better quality to my eyes. But the bottom one is interesting. It seems that they could have different uses if a client were to need such an image.

@Laurie

Same photo. The bottom one is a crop of the top one.

I think I like the top one best. They both have interest. :)

I think I like the color in the top one better. Neat picture!

Really neat - both of them!

I prefer the one on top. It gives more breathing space for the painter.

However both are beautiful compositions

Yes, the top one. Very nice and very sharp.

Happy WW!

I would suggest you put the name/url option on this comment form so more of us can easily comment with a valid name and url.

I dig the top one, because the bottom one doesn't give us any more detail about the painter himself. So, you might as well tell more about the things around him.

I much prefer the top one, because it puts the whole thing into more of a context
